The 2015 Dr. William Kennett Memorial Nursing Scholarship Recipients
The 2015 scholarship recipients were honored at the annual reception on October 22, 2015 at Sequoia Hospital. We are delighted to announce this year recipients - Julia Meinhold, Alena Makarava, Briana Feinberg, Randy Sevilla, Alexa Dimmitt, Megan Cullen, Djedjiga Khettab.
The Dr. William Kennett Memorial Nursing Scholarship provides financial assistance for student nurses in the San Francisco State University/Sequoia BSN program at Cañada College. For more than 40 years, Dr. Kennett maintained an obstetrics practice in Redwood City. He delivered more than 6,000 babies and was highly respected by his patients and colleagues and consistently practiced family-centered care. Dr. Kennett was a loving husband, father, physician and friend. To honor Dr. Kennett and his family, donors in the community have generously helped fund a scholarship program to help student nurses finance their education. This scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate a commitment to practicing family-centered compassionate care. In the first ten years, the scholarship program has awarded 67 scholarships to deserving students totaling more than $700,000 in scholarships for the SF State/Sequoia BSN Program.
According to the Sequoia Hospital Foundation, Dr. Kennett's wife, Gloria, has been the heart and soul of the foundation. She has played an essential role in developing and growing the nursing scholarship in honor of her late husband.
Please join us to congratulate all the recipients!
