Cal State Apply will accept an unofficial transcript when you apply. If you are accepted, you will also be required to submit official transcripts.
Apply first through Cal State Apply. You will then be sent an SF State ID. Use the SF State ID to complete your application through NursingCAS.
NursingCAS also requires:
- Two letters of recommendation (one from a direct supervisor and another from another manager in the district in which you are working). Nursing CAS will solicit for the letters; the applicant should not upload them to their application.
- A transcript showing a 3.0 GPA or better in their earned undergraduate degree or the last 60-semester (90-quarter) units completed, or a transcript as evidence of having earned a post-baccalaureate degree.
- Responses to prompts about your experience and interest.
More details are on the NursingCAS website.
Credentialing requirements are set by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing which is not controlled by or affiliated with CSU and requirements can change at any time.
Successful completion of the program, with formal recommendation of SF State, in addition to the three requirements listed here, will enable the credential candidate to apply for the School Nurse Services Clear Credential. SF State’s Graduate College of Education will assist with the processing of the clear credential applications.
- Verification of possession of a Preliminary School Nurse Services Credential
- Verification of possession of a valid Registered Nurse License issued by the State of California
- Evidence of the completion of two years of successful experience as a school nurse
Please see the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing for specific school nurse credential requirements.
